Habitat for Humanity
This nonprofit housing ministry has built over 300,000 houses around the world, providing more than 1.5 million people with safe, affordable shelter. Habitat for Humanity has been able to accomplish these goals with donations of time, money, and materials.
Volunteers labor alongside the homeowner families in the construction of Habitat homes. In addition to a down payment and monthly mortgage payments, the homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor in the building of their house and the houses of others. Habitat houses are sold at no profit and the mortgage payments are used to finance the building of more Habitat houses.
